Poultry Laying Facility Site Planning and Development

The Challenge

The siting of large scale animal feeding facilities is complex due to state permitting requirements, state mandated separation distances, County zoning requirements, on-site stormwater management, and good public and private access. Kuehl & Payer, Ltd. is experienced in the siting, layout, design, permitting, and construction of large animal feeding operations, including poultry laying facilities.

The KPL Solution

By using GIS mapping, Kuehl & Payer, Ltd. can assist the owner in preliminary sitting. Once a potential site is identified, a field review is performed to identify soils and drainage issues. Once selected, our experienced survey staff will perform a complete topographic survey needed to consider building elevations, drainage, and yardage balances for site grading.

In addition to site development, our staff is able to design waste management treatment systems, domestic wastewater treatment, and the water supply and distribution systems.

Results and Benefits

K&P has been assisting livestock producers for the layout, design, permitting, and construction of their facilities since 1991. In addition, since 2002 K&P has provided these same services for the poultry laying industry. With our assistance, four (4) large scale laying operations have been designed, permitted, and constructed. Our plans are comprehensive and tailored to each individual site to meet the producers overall production goal.
