Kuehl & Payer, Ltd. has a long and extensive history in providing services to drainage districts across Iowa and reaching into southern Minnesota. Three professional agricultural engineers and an experienced support staff of engineers and technicians provide quality service, leadership and assistance in the areas of drainage repair or improvement studies, establishment of new drainage districts, converted wetland mitigation, permitting, annexation, reclassification, and levy calculation assistance. KPL provides important assistance to landowners and businesses in dealing with federal and state wetland-related regulations and in appealing from adverse regulatory agency decisions. Respect for KPL’s drainage experience has led to unique opportunities such as in the conceptual design of alternative outlets for and estimating the cost of closing the nearly 300 agricultural drainage wells in the state of Iowa and in designing solutions for and estimating the cost of dealing with drain tile crossings for a large natural gas main planned to bring Alaskan North Slope gas across the states of Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois to Chicago. KPL also provides professional services in the management of municipal stormwater runoff through comprehensive studies and in conventional and innovative designs including detentions, rain gardens, stormwater treatment and other LID (low impact development) concepts.
