Mr. Droessler performs planning, design and project management for a variety of civil, agricultural, and environmental engineering projects. Ivan has extensive experience in drainage, landfill design, animal waste management and storm water control. Mr. Droessler joined Kuehl and Payer, Ltd. in 1991. He has been a principal with the firm since 1993 and is the operation manager for Kuehl and Payer’s Sac City Office.
Ivan’s past experience includes eight years with the USDA Soil Conservation Service currently the Natural Resources Conservation Service. During these eight years, he was assigned to the Area Engineering Staffs in Denison, West Union, and Shenandoah, Iowa. Ivan performed planning and design of conservation practices including surface and subsurface drainage systems, animal waste management systems and grade stabilization and flood control structures.
During his duty in Shenandoah, Mr. Droessler provided engineering assistance to private landowners, Soil and Water Conservation Districts, municipal and county government bodies through the U.S. Government’s PL-566, PL-46 and RC&D programs. Ivan served as the Government Representative/Project Engineer on construction contracts for these projects.
Agricultural Drainage
Mr. Droessler was raised on a farm in Kossuth County, Iowa (Drainage District #4.) Since joining Kuehl and Payer Ivan has been a project manager providing professional services for a multitude of drainage districts in Iowa counties. These services include drainage and flood control studies, repairs, improvements, annexations, reclassifications and levy calculation assistance. Through his work he has become recognized as one of the lead drainage engineers in the state.
Environmental
Mr. Droessler also provides professional services to landfills in Iowa. He has designed leachate collection and storage systems, prepared vertical expansion plans, written comprehensive solid waste management plans and provides annual water quality monitoring and landfill inspection services for these landfills.
In addition to solid waste, Ivan provides animal manure management services for livestock producers in Iowa. He has experience in swine, beef, dairy and poultry. Designs have included earthen basins, aerobic lagoons, deep concrete pits, open concrete tanks and shallow pit flushing systems.
Water Resources Besides drainage, Ivan has experience in storm water control and grade stabilization. In 1996 Ivan was the project manager of a flood control project for the City of Onawa, Iowa and the Onawa Drainage District. Kuehl and Payer’s unique design utilizing automated pumping systems with two earthen storage basins to relieve street and basement flooding when the receiving outlet drainage district ditches are full, won our clients and Kuehl and Payer an Engineering Excellence Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies, Iowa Chapter (ACEC - Iowa).
