Mr. Edgerton has been involved in many aspects of surveying since earning a Bachelor of Science degree in surveying from the University of Toronto in 1982.

Prior to employment with Kuehl and Payer, Ltd., Tom worked thirteen years with the firm of Fairhall, Moffatt and Woodland Limited Ltd. in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

From 1997 to the present, Tom has led the survey team at Kuehl and Payer’s Algona office.

Boundary Survey

Mr. Edgerton’s involvement in the surveying field includes boundary, topographic, and ALTA surveys; subdivision design and layout; and surveys for strata and condominium plans.

ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys

Utilizing the standard requirements adopted jointly by the American Land Title Association and the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping, Tom has prepared numerous ALTA/ACSM Land Title surveys. These are a very detailed and specific type of survey used to graphically show the relationships between deed lines, occupation lines, improvements, easements and encumbrances, visible encroachments and noncompliances.

Preliminary Surveys for Infrastructure Improvements

Accurate preliminary survey data is the foundation on which design decisions are made for any proposed infrastructure improvements. Under Mr. Edgerton’s supervision, Kuehl and Payer crews gather the data needed to prepare plans and specifications for engineering designs.

Easement Surveys

Tom surveyed the right-of-way for over 60 miles of TransCanada Pipeline corridor and 30 miles of Bell Canada fiber optics transmission line. He has also surveyed boundaries for numerous Wetland Restoration Easements.

Control Surveys

Tom was involved in setting up a control network inside a limestone mine two hundred feet underground. At the same location, he set control for a seventeen-hundred-foot decline ramp leading into the mine, allowing drillers coming from each end to connect in the middle.

Tom has extensive surveying experience in both urban and rural settings, utilizing conventional, total station, and GPS technology.
